Student Affairs Mission Statement

In keeping with the university mission “to enrich the capacity of individuals to think, to learn, and to act and lead with integrity and wisdom,” our purpose in student affairs is:

To cultivate a rich living and learning community in which students develop a commitment to personal and intellectual growth, lifelong learning and citizenship.

We pursue this mission by collaborating with our academic colleagues and community partners to develop quality services and programs that enrich student learning.

Student Affairs Vision

Student Affairs aspires to be student-centered and learning-focused in creating a distinctive student life experience at Tulane University.

Students are the center of our work. As our first and foremost priority, they deserve the greatest educational opportunities and the highest level of quality service. The development and delivery of our programs and services are done in our students’ best interest. In a culture of mutual respect we will provide experiences that engage students in their own learning and in giving back to the community.

As an integral component to the university mission, we will create and facilitate connections between and among the various opportunities for learning, as well as motivate students to devote their personal time and energy to purposeful activities. Mapping the learning environment of our students involves helping them make meaning of their social, academic and institutional experiences. Tulane students are a product of these varied experiences and as such, will be uniquely prepared to learn and lead in a global society.
